Sugar is almost everywhere. It’s not only in our pastries and desserts, but it’s also in our coffee, in our soup, even in salad dressings! Sugar robs the body of nutrition. It can rot your teeth and cause fatty deposits to build up in your liver. It’s the main cause of cellulite, body fat, and metabolic issues. Sugar also creates an acidic environment in the body, which leads to disease.
So you can see why it would be important to kick sugar to the curb and swap it out for healthier alternatives. Now, I’m not about deprivation. Not in the least. I like a sweet treat as much as the next person. Seriously, I have such a thing for chocolate! But I make sure that what I’m eating isn’t going to negatively impact my health, so I make sure that any treats I’m eating are sweetened with a healthy sweetener, like honey or maple syrup, or natural sugar substitute, like stevia or xylitol. Once you start switching to healthy sweeteners and low-sugar substitutes, you’ll notice that you have fewer and fewer cravings for sugar. You’ll also find that you’re tasting the natural sweetness of fruits and vegetables without needing to put anything on top of them. Getting off of sugar will help you to ditch the afternoon energy crash, stabilize your blood sugar, look younger, and create a more alkaline environment that your body will thrive in. What will you swap out this week for a healthier, low-sugar or sugar-free alternative?

Where to Spend & Save on Organic
Okay, so it's the holidays and money is being spent, and if you are like me I always go overboard for my kids! I love Christmas! I would like a little snow, that would be so great but either way, I love Christmas!! I think you get the point :) Anyway...here is a small tip that may help out, at least with the groceries, this season! Have you ever heard of the Dirty Dozen? It’s the 12 kinds of produce that you absolutely MUST buy organic because they are most heavily sprayed with pesticides.Pesticides contribute to toxicity in the body, which means that we are more likely to suffer from allergies, a weakened immune system, and digestive problems, among other things. Many fruits and vegetables that have thin skins or have skins that you eat are toxic when bought conventional. As a general rule of thumb, you want to make sure that anything you buy that has a thin skin is organic, as this will limit the amount of environmental toxins entering your body that wreak havoc on your health. While it is always best to buy organic whenever possible, this doesn’t work for every budget. The Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen were created for this exact reason: to help you know the top 12 foods that you MUST buy organic and the top 15 that can be bought conventional. DIRTY DOZEN:
12/16/2014 0 Comments I feel much better now!I have finished my detox but have continued my daily detoxing rituals and I feel really good! I think I lost about 8 pounds in 12 days, kind of crazy but true. I went off the cleanse faster than I would have liked but family came into town and totally threw me off, but it was oh so good to see them!
I know it is not easy to stay on the straight and narrow, believe me. I am a vegetarian and have been for 20 years, I have been a health coach for almost five years now. My husband eats meat, loves sugar and rolls his eyes at the fact I won't use the microwave. It has made raising children together an adventure to say the least! He is not against me at all, but he is not for me either. Tolerance is a good thing though and works for us in this matter ;) Anyway, there are things in my house all the time that I don't buy and there is still a struggle for me to make better choices for my body and my digestion. The reality is for me, is that it is about the choices I make every day, one day at a time and if I have a bad day, so what! There is always another day! And seriously when you feel really good you want to continue to feel good, great motivation! My goal is 90/10, 90 good, 10 fun :). The thing is, is when I start eating clean the 10 becomes less offensive to my body because I don't want the really bad things anymore. They make me feel bad so I don't want them, makes sense and it's simple. I understand cravings but I want to empower you with the information that you can eat what you want but within reason and don't be surprised when what you want changes or that you want less of it. It is hard to imagine I know but it's true, I am living proof! I look forward to the next cleanse but in the mean time I will continue with my daily rituals and my oils! Love, love, love my oils! Not only for the benefits but I love the smell of them :) Thanks for reading :) PS The next cleanse starts Jan. 19th and goes on sale on December 21st. 12/9/2014 1 Comment Why am I so angry??So I was getting ready for my day, just doing normal things and I just felt so angry. And I was thinking about things that happened so long ago that really they shouldn't matter anymore. But...apparently they do because I am sitting here thinking about them and I am getting all sorts of riled up! Then it hits me, it's the detox! I have been going through my clean eating program that I offer in my Health coaching, you know just testing recipes and different supplements so when others go through this particular program I will have better insight. Plus I don't like to offer anything I have not done myself. My point is though is that I forgot about the emotional detox that happens. That when you clean up your eating habits you clean out your organs and different emotions and memories can come up.
Now I have taken this clean eating program deeper than I normally do because I really was feeling out of whack. I mean, I know I am a health coach but it is so easy to slip back into bad habits and I was feeling the consequences. Bloated, heavy, tired, stressed and I think even a little depressed. I really needed to clean up my act, seriously! So I feel that is why I am experiencing more emotions this time around. This fact reminded me how important it is to keep a food diary and I cannot believe I have been leaving this out. A food diary is to keep track of reactions to foods but it is also to have a place to put all your emotional stuff, you know, all out there in black and white. Somewhere you can see what you are feeling, read over what you have written and possibly process it better. I have been (kind of) keeping track of what I have been eating but I have not been writing anything else down. I am writing about this today because I wanted to share how life changing journaling can be and how I believe I am going to get back into the practice. I have gone through The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron twice in my life. This was a life changing thing for me both times. Once it helped me to leave an unhealthy relationship and the other time it helped me change a self defeating behavior. She has you journal the whole time you are going through her book, she calls them morning pages and it is amazing. I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone, always! After following her book I cannot believe I forgot how important journaling can be. Those of you who feel stuck but you aren't sure what the problem is I definitely recommend Julia Cameron's book. If you feel bloated, tired, heavy and stressed consider going through my clean eating program :) It will be available as an online group program for those of you who like to have others as well as myself help you through the journey and as a DIY program. I will have it up on my website by the end of this week but if you want more information right now please get in touch with me through my contact page and we can have a chat. I will have early bird pricing for the first two weeks it is available, and those who want to talk about it now I will absolutely give you those price options. By the way I feel much better now :), both emotionally and physically. I am on Day 9 of my 14 day program and I feel so much better, better energy, so much less bloated and never hungry. As a result I am definitely happier....well except for the occasional rogue emotion from the detoxing! Thanks for reading and have a great day! |
