1/23/2015 1 Comment Gluten or not to gluten.....That really has been the big question going around lately. At first I thought it was just another fad, like no fat, low fat, no sugar or low sugar (which just means there is a fake chemical sugar that is worse for you in that product usually) . I should actually write on all the fake sugars and what they actually do to your body, really scary! Anyway.... there is always something we shouldn't eat or that we absolutely should because it is a miracle food it will somehow improve your life with out you doing anything except ingesting it ;). Oh how I wish that was true!
There is something to this anti-gluten movement though. I have read about it, experienced it with clients and believe I may have an intolerance as well. You see you can have an intolerance but not have a major illness associated with it. Gluten affects all of the bodies systems. If you were wondering what it actually is, it is a protein found in grains. And really it is in everything, it is a protein with a sticky glue like consistency and it is used as a "binder, filler, shaper, bulking agent, texturizer, and stabilizer." according to Alejandro Junger MD. So of course something so useful to the food industry is going to be in everything. Also according to Dr. Junger in his book Clean Gut "Gluten is associated with cancers of the mouth and throat, esophagus, small intestines, and lymph nodes. It is also associated with Type 1 diabetes as well as thyroid disorders, such as Hashimoto's, the most commonly diagnosed thyroid dysfunction in America." It is also associated with many other autoimmune diseases, and it is really bad for your gut! From what I have seen everything bad that can happen can originate in the gut and once you have your gut health under control bad things can be prevented. This is why I am such an advocate of Clean eating programs and detoxes! One of the best most informative books that I absolutely love on this subject is by the man I have referenced in this blog. Clean Gut by Alejandro Junger MD. He has written several books on the subject of gut health and all of them are very good. So in my experience I believe gluten should be avoided if not completely taken out of your diet. You may be surprised by the difference it makes in the way you feel if you eliminate it. Even to remove it for a time just to see how it really affects your health may really be worth it. I have a 15 day clean eating program that does this, I will also be adding a 28 day program soon as well, so if you want to see how you may be able to improve the way you feel with some support please go check it out. There are several programs out there so if not mine please try and stay proactive with your health and try one. Here is to your good health! Thanks for reading!

Great question! Thanks for asking :)
I believe that all bad things start in an unhealthy gut, like really bad things! Heart disease, cancer, depression and allergies..oh my! And the most prevalent of the bad things are the autoimmune diseases, the crazy things that a lot of doctors don't know how to diagnose because the symptoms on every person can be different! So crazy frustrating. So this is why I am a huge promoter of preventing bad things from happening or rather being proactive with your health. Become educated, do your own research about things, whatever it takes just don't believe everything the commercials are telling you. There is a lot of money behind what they are saying which doesn't make it true but does make it in your face. I will be talking about these big money people and what they are actually selling you in the next few weeks. Dairy is my biggest thing, and it truthfully is one of my biggest struggles. I love cheese! No joke. Love it. I have tried to give it up but always go back, it is delicious. I have tried the faux kinds and a few have been okay but it is not the same. I have cut back A LOT but it still gets in there a little. It is a toxic trigger to me, I know this but I have learned to plan for the pain. The truth about dairy is that it is a toxic trigger for a lot of people but it may affect them differently than they think. It can cause mood swings, bloating, feeling tired and indigestion which is the most common one for me. Actually all toxic triggers do these things so you may not even know what is causing it. That is why I am such a big believer in detoxes/clean eating programs. It helps you investigate your own body in a very clear and simple process. There are also the hormones, the antibiotics and of course the protein source in milk, casein, is not a good thing to say the very least. 4% of the 13% of milk that is not water is glue, a really powerful glue (like hold your furniture together type glue) A really informative site about dairy is NOTmilk.com. Seriously opens your eyes to the whole industry. I am certainly not going to start a campaign to rid the world of dairy (I am the grand daughter of an ex-dairy farmer), but it is one of the biggest 'bad things are gonna happen' triggers. I really want to help people think more about what they are ingesting and how it can be effecting them and they may not even be aware of it. A little detective work through detox can open your eyes. It definitely has mine. I will be discussing two more big offenders in the coming week, gluten and processed sugar! Stay tuned :) If anyone has any comments or questions please get in touch with me and I will address them as soon as I can. Thanks again!
